Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids Yarn Review

For my very first yarn review, it is appropriate that I review the yarn I used for my stitch tutorial in the previous post! 🙂 Check it out here.

Name: Loops & Threads Impeccable Solids.

Weight: CYC 4, Aran weight yarn.

Fiber Content: 100% acrylic.

Yardage: 268-285 yards/245-261 meters in the 4.5 oz/128 g ball; 885 yards/809 meters in the 14 oz/396 g Big! ball, and 1790 yards/1637 meters in the 28 oz/800 g Endless ball.

Price: Typically $2-4 for the standard size, $7-10 for the Big!, and $20 for the Endless (though it’s on clearance now for $7.97).

Care: Machine wash and dry, though this yarn fuzzes up in the dryer, so I usually air dry.

Blocking: Light steam blocking if needed.

Yarn Rating Description
1 Poor
2 Okay
3 Fair
4 Good
5 Excellent

Softness: 3: Fair for a value acrylic, but definitely softens up in the wash, especially if you use fabric softener.

Colors: 3: Fair. No dye lots, and I love that you can find more unique colors, such as Soft Rose and Heather. There isn’t a huge variety in color range, but Michael’s does seem to always be coming out with new colors or put-ups (like the Endless skein).

Product Availability: 3:  Sold at Michael’s. There is no guarantee that you will be able to find the exact color you want in store or online, as they always seem to be sold out of the colors I want! Keep in mind also that you must order the standard skein size in packs of 3 if you order online.

Elasticity: 2: Okay. This is a lofty acrylic which reminds me a bit of cotton. Not very much elasticity, but I really like the lofty feel of the yarn.

Drape: 3: Fair. Not a lot of drape, but more than other value acrylics, and a relatively lightweight feel when worn against the skin or in a garment.

Stitch Definition: 4: Good. As you can see in the project photo below (and from my previous stitch tutorial), this yarn has good stitch definition, especially for acrylic.

Ease of frogging: 4: Good. Does not catch on itself.

Center pull?: 2: Okay. The skeins are quite tightly packed, and I usually end up with a ball of tangled yarn when first trying to center pull.

Wear: 4: Good. As mentioned above, I don’t recommend drying this yarn frequently in the dryer, as it does fuzz up some, but overall it wears well.

Value: 4: Good. Michael’s frequently has this yarn on sale, making it an excellent buy.

Overall Opinion: 4: Good. Loops & Threads Impeccable is definitely one of my favorite value acrylic yarns for the feel of the yarn and the stitch definition. I also like the muted, neutral, and pastel colors offered.
