Hi, my name is Lena and welcome to Cozy Knitting and Crochet! In our busy age, many have found peace and wellbeing through the time-honored tradition of handcrafting, not to mention the joy of creating beautiful and useful articles.
My hope is to spread the joy of knitting and crochet through easy patterns, stitch tutorials, beginner basics, inexpensive yarn reviews, pattern reviews, essays, and more. So grab your yarn and needles or hooks and join me!
My Knitting Story.
My grandmother taught me to knit at age eight, but after a few half-hearted scarves and accessories for my dollhouse, I put the needles away. Little did I know that yarn would become such an important part of my life later on.
Finding a Way to Cope.
A lot of times, our lives do not turn out as we expected. At age 21 I found myself bedridden with serious illness and cancer.
I began to look into relatively inexpensive crafts that would keep my mind and hands occupied. I taught myself to crochet through YouTube, and got back into knitting.
Life, A Stitch at a Time.
During chemo treatments, I would bring along my yarn and knit or crochet. I discovered my love for making chemo hats and prayer shawls, which I continue to make and deliver to my local cancer center.
Over the past several years, as I have continued to battle illness, knitting and crocheting has given me the blessing of peace, quiet, and a sense of accomplishment. Sometimes life must be taken a moment or stitch at a time.
Why this website?
For many years, I have desired to design my own patterns and contribute to the knitting and crochet community, while also encouraging others to learn the craft.
For that reason, you will find easy patterns and tutorials that both beginners and more advanced knitters or crocheters can enjoy, as well as reviews of resources, inexpensive yarns, and an occasional essay on what knitting and crochet means to me.
